Holly Jolly Christmas Cards

I was brainstorming ideas for this year’s Christmas cards. Should I do Christmas cards like I have so many years before or a Christmas letters like I did the last couple of years? The idea of picture cards never really crossed my mind. Until I found out that Shutterfly is doing a promotion for bloggers and they are giving away 50 free Christmas cards how awesome is that! I get 50 free cards and I get to share some cute pictures of my little man with the family and friends. Some of their cards have a place to write a little Christmas letter too, so you can do both in one shot.
These are some designs that we are contemplating:

While reviewing Shutterfly’s card options I looked over some of their other projects. I found that their selection of calendars is awesome and what a better gift for the grandparents and great-grandparents than a calendar with pictures of their grandson. Not only are the designs fun and colorful but the prices are fantastic, the calendars are full price for the first and 50% off all others that you order and on a purchase over $25.00 you get free shipping. This is a great deal that you just can’t beat. My husband and I had a wonderful time making the calendars.  We have never done this before so we are quite excited to see the outcome. This is the layout we chose from so many that are available.

When the going gets tough

We all know that parenting comes with many joys and a lot of worry at times. Our little guy has been running a fever between 100 and 103.9 since Thanksgiving night. Our pilot daddy came home from work on Thanksgiving at 6:30 pm, we enjoyed a wonderful diner with friends and then at 4 am bam the fever hit. It has been like a frat house here there is a lot of noise, vomiting and no one is sleeping. Continued in Hanger Rats

Top TSA Slogans:

I don't really have an opinion about the full body scanners, it scares me that they x-ray people especially pilots several times a day because the radiation can't be good for them, I also realize that we need means to protect ourselves from terrorism. Anyway in one of the groups I belong to another wife posted these and I thought they were hilarious so I asked if I could steel them. For your enjoyment and a  chuckle here are the top TSA slogans, enjoy:

Can't see London, can't see France, unless we see in your underpants.

Grope discounts available.

If we did our job any better we'd have to buy you dinner first.

Only we know if Lady Gaga is really a lady.

Don't worry, my hands are still warm from the last guy.

Throw a few back at the airport Chili's and you won't even notice.

Wanna fly? Drop your fly.

We've handled more balls than Barney Frank.

We are now free to move about your pants.

We rub you the wrong way, so you can be on your way.

It's not a grope. It's a freedom pat.

When in doubt, we make you whip it out.

Stories in the sky

We are a family of avid readers. Husband and I are always in the middle of reading something. He reads history, mystery, horror, historical fiction, I read mysteries and romance and fiction. Our son loves all types of books, Dr. Seuss, Bernstein Bears and others but some of his favorites are about planes, because daddy flies them. So I gathered his books some we own some we borrow from the library and I thought I would share them with  you. Continued in Hanger Rats

My Absolutely Most Favorite Tomato Soup

This is My Absolutely Most Favorite Tomato Soup Ever. It is pretty close o the kind my grandmother made I think she made hers on beef base but I like the chicken base. My son loves this soup and asks for me to make it so I thought I'd share it. This recipe makes a lot so I freeze a jar or two for another day. It usually does not make it for more than 5 or 6 days in the freezer before we eat it all up but I have kept it frozen for up to couple of months and it keeps very well. Recipe in Meals for Two

New Faucet

So about a month ago my faucet started to make this awful squealing noise whenever it was on. To make it more fun my little sprayer stopped working at the same time. Since my husband has bee away quite a bit it took a while to replace it. Continued in Hanger Rats

Respiratory junk

Yuck Yuck Yuck, I have the respiratory bug. When my head stops feeling like it is being squashed and the fever goes away I shall post something fun and interesting but for now just bare with me and keep checking I hope that tomorrow I will have my head back on again and I will be able to write something intelligent.

In the News

Midway on the home page there is a news box I added an interesting article about Body Scanners at the airports. It seems to be a very controversial topic. Check it out.

Daycare

I would like to begin this post with saying that I am not against daycares, nor do I do not condemn parents who send their children to daycares. There are many benefits to daycares such as socialization for your children, routine, structure and so forth. With that being said I choose not to send our son to daycare. When he did attend daycare he was sick all the time, and he hated it – we tried several. So as a result I stay at home and both my husband and I agree that it fits our lifestyle to keep out boy at home. Continued in Hanger Rats

What are we driven by

I have been playing on pilot wives groups and websites and a question came up from one of the group members about whether the size of the airplane that your pilot flies matters. After much consideration I posted a response that to us it does not matter, because what my husband flies suites our family needs. My response fit in with her post since her husband is driven by the schedule and how that works for him and his family versus what he flies. Continued in Relationships
