When we relocated to Texas, I knew that there were chances a
hurricane could make landfall and thus we could have damage to our home or
property. Our 1
st hurricane season, son and I endured Ike all by
ourselves, while daddy was evacuating the Gulf. I survived 9 days without power
(with a 1 year old), made friendships that will last a life time with my
neighbors and cleared a pickup truck full of fallen tree limbs from our
backyard. Continued

Having moved to Florida recently, hurricanes have been in the back of my mind. It's something that I've never experienced before... sorry you had to deal with Ike while your husband was gone! Isn't that how it always works. You've given me some things to think about when it comes to preparedness! (: Let's hope for no major hurricanes this season.
