Survey Sneak Peak

Last November I had an idea to collect some data from pilot wives and girlfriends to see how the lifestyle affects us and our children. How we cope with the changes in having a spouse at home for a while and then being a single parent and on your own. The surveys have been trickling in at a slow pace but I only have 18 towards my original goal of 100. So I thought I would put out a teaser and show you some of the results and how they will be presented in the final survey report.I selected the categories of sleep and resentfulness because they have come up recently on some of the pilot wife forums. Once you review the survey you will see that the questions are all encompassing, from personality types, communication styles children and so forth. Keep in mind that this is just a little tease and the survey has some wisdoms that are short answers and I need to compile them in order to share them. Think about the wealth of knowledge that we would all be able to draw from if I was able to collect 100. If you would like to participate in the effort and have not yet filled a survey out please feel  free to contact me at whirlywives@aol.com or pull the survey of the blog by clicking here.

Chicken and Asparagus over bowtie pasta

This is a yummy recipe that I adopted from Great Taste - Low Fat and tweaked it to meet our tastes. It is easy to make, full of great textures from crunchy asparagus to chicken. The sour cream gives it a little bit of a sour undertone and complements the nutty taste of the asparagus. My little guy loves this meal, I really need to make it more often. Recipe in Meals for Two

My brother’s visit

One of the reasons why I have been missing in action the last three weeks has been a visit from my brother and his wife. Since I only see them once in a great while (every six months or so) I spent every moment with them, catching up cooking and showing them around Texas. Continued In the life of the Whirly Wife

Our normal is clearly just normal

After 21 days of having Mr. Right at home we are on our own again. He has had a long stretch off because he was sick and on antibiotics so we go a lot of relaxing in and just hanging out as a family. I was really concerned that it would be super difficult when he went back. Continued in Hanger Rats

Always the teacher

This past weekend we ventured out to the San Jacinto Monument in Houston and visited the battleship Texas. It was quite a wonderful experience, where the monument was interesting in the historical sense and the importance of the site to the Texas history the battleship was an absolute blast.
